The Entrepreneurship Certificate is designed for aspiring entrepreneurs, early-stage business owners, and innovative thinkers seeking to transform ideas into actionable business opportunities. Students will gain the foundational knowledge, practical skills, and entrepreneurial framework necessary to start, grow, and sustain a business in today’s dynamic and competitive environment. Students will work through their own entrepreneurial ideas during their coursework.

This course provides a survey of the starting and operating of an entrepreneurial venture. Topics include new venture creation, the business plan, economics of the business, determining resource needs and acquiring resources, marketing, technology, leadership skills, and business ethics. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of entrepreneurship concepts and how to use the entrepreneurial mindset to succeed in their careers.

This course introduces students to basic legal concepts specifically relevant to a business start-up venture. Topics include bailments and documents of title, nature, and form of sales, risk and property rights, obligations and performance, business organizations, and agency and employment. Upon completion, students should be able to assess the legal responsibilities of a business start-up.

This course provides a study of developing and enhancing individual and organizational creativity and innovation. Topics include that innovation needs to be applied to products, services, and processes to increase competitive advantages and add value to businesses. Upon completion, students should be able to apply innovation and creativity principles in the workplace.

This course covers theory, strategies, techniques, and tactics for negotiating contracts, and principles and practices of negotiations for government, corporate, or institutional procurements. Topics include the preparation and conduct of negotiations and methods of dealing with situations under different types of negotiations. Upon completion, students should be able to effectively negotiate contracts.

This course covers the techniques to correctly research and define the target market to increase sales for start-up businesses or to expand current businesses. Topics include how to target the market and meet customers’ needs with a limited budget in the early stages of the life of a start-up business. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of how to correctly target the market for a start-up business with limited resources.

This course introduces current and emerging entrepreneurship issues and opportunities. Topics include franchising, import/export, small business taxes, legal structures, negotiations, contract management, and time management. Upon completion, students should be able to apply a variety of analytical and decision-making requirements to start a new business.

The Entrepreneurship Certificate is offered in a 100% online format. Distance learning allows the degree to be completed around the student’s personal schedule without the need to travel to a physical location.
