A-B Tech School of Nursing Class Success

Academic Remediation

All students should utilize the academic lab offered by the A-B Tech School of Nursing. If a student’s performance is unsatisfactory, it is recommended that the student attend all available Academic Success and Exam Remediation (ASER) labs. During the ASER lab, the student can review exam content and reflect on areas of improvement. The student will be able to document on an academic success tool (Loma Linda Exam Analysis) the key areas of difficulty and why they missed each question.

The School of Nursing faculty is also available during the ASER lab to answer questions and assist the students with test-taking strategies. The student may also request to meet with course faculty to review performance. The student will be able to utilize the Loma Linda exam analysis tool during the ASER lab to self-identify areas of improvement. The course instructor will assist the student in creating an academic success plan based on the ASER lab reflection.

The ability to review course exams is a privilege for nursing students and the following expectations always apply:

  • During ASER lab, the Loma Linda tool and a writing utensil are the only things allowed at the computer station. This includes pictures from phones, smartwatches, etc. You may review your text or classroom notes, however, you may not create any notes, reminders, lists, or pictures of the exam.
  • Additional ASER guidelines may apply, refer to the program-specific Moodle course.
