Prepare for the HiSET® or the GED® test with the help of instructors
Our classroom instruction is based on best practices in adult education and we target our lessons to help students develop the skills and knowledge they will need to pass a high school equivalency exam. It's okay if you have been out of school for a long time. We work with students at all levels in reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, and science.
(Note: Students who are 16 or 17 years old must have a completed Minor Permission Form submitted prior to enrolling. Scroll down for more info.)
Step 2: Orientation and Testing
Once your Student Interest Form is received, someone will contact you to schedule your orientation and testing appointment.
If you are interested in attending our Madison Campus registration, please call (828) 398-7700 to reserve a space.
Step 3: Advising and Registration
After completing the CASAS placement test, an advisor will review the test results, discuss your schedule, and register you for classes (Zoom virtual class, online class, or a combination).
Step 4: Start Class
After completing your advising appointment and class registration, an instructor will reach out to you about how to get to your virtual/online class.
A note to minors: Students who are 16 or 17 years of age must fill out a minor permission form before orientation. Contact Kathy Hipps at (828) 398-7891. Minors (ages 16 and 17) are required to pick up and complete a Minor Permission Form Mon. - Fri., 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. in Hemlock Office #303 at the Hemlock Building at 207 Victoria Road, Asheville, NC 28801. No appointment is necessary.
