Prepare for HiSET® or GED® Exams

Prepare for the HiSET® or the GED® test with the help of instructors

It's okay if you have been out of school for a long time. We work with students at all levels in reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, and science to prepare for success on high school equivalency exams like the HiSET® or GED®.

Step 1: Contact Transitional Studies

Please call our main number at (828) 398-7433 to schedule an orientation and testing appointment.

If you are a minor, contact Karen Neal, Coordinator of Transitional Studies Data Management & Adult High School to find out about Minor Permission Form information. Email Karen at karenaneal@abtech.edu or phone Karen at (828) 398-7573 and leave a message.

Step 2: Orientation and Testing

Attend your scheduled orientation and CASAS pre-testing appointment. We typically offer both evening and morning options on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If accommodations for testing are required, please arrange for these in advance by contacting Support Services.

Step 3: Advising and Registration

After completing the CASAS placement tests, you will meet with a staff member to review the test results, discuss your schedule, and pick your class schedule. We offer in-person classes with an option to join via Zoom, as well as an online study option where you can log in according to your own schedule and work through course material at your own pace. Morning and evening options are available Mondays through Thursdays.

Step 4: Start Class

Show up to class and make a study plan with your teacher to help you reach your goals!
