The Small Business Center (SBC) at A-B Tech Enka is part of the statewide Small Business Center Network (SBCN), a community college-funded initiative with a vision to foster and support entrepreneurship, small business, and economic development in local communities with an emphasis on assisting start-ups, early-stage, and at-risk enterprises. In other words, we aim to increase the number of viable businesses across the state by providing high quality, accessible assistance to small business owners, which in turn, leads to job creation and retention. So whether you are exploring entrepreneurship or you are an experienced business owner, the Small Business Center is a valuable resource.
Starting or growing your business? Need to add to your list of skills to ensure success in your new venture? The Small Business Center provides a variety of training including free business seminars, interactive workshops, and classes. Training is available on a variety of valuable business topics such as basic bookkeeping, software training (like QuickBooks), web design, marketing analysis, utilizing Google pay-per-click tools, WordPress, business management training, international product export services, craft business development, and more. Most of our business workshops and seminars are free, with some advanced topics available for a nominal fee.

Whether you need help on business law, planning, business coaching, business development, and growth, problem-solving, or cash flow management, we can provide you with the expert assistance you need. As a service to the Buncombe and Madison County areas, the Asheville, NC Small Business Center at A-B Tech Enka also provides access to free professional services involving individualized counseling and advice with area professionals in multiple areas such as:

The Small Business Center is always seeking presenters with new ideas for an interesting course and seminar topics. If you have an idea for a class or seminar, the desire to teach, and meet the below requirements please submit an Instructor Interest Information Form.
- Degree, accreditation, licensure and/or experience in the subject to be taught
- Minimum of three years of experience in your specific instructional area
- Current or previous business ownership experience
- Teaching or training experience with adult learners
- Ability to communicate effectively
Small Business Resources
The Small Business Center features a library located at A-B Tech Enka that provides professional resources to increase your business knowledge. Business books and audio/video recordings can be borrowed from the SBC library. Computers are available to provide access to internet business resources, as well as business plan software. The SBC resource room and library are open during regular SBC hours and are free and available to the public.
