Within the 3-hour course we will include the basic operation of heating systems, air conditioners, heat pumps, mini-splits, and commercial refrigeration, trade secrets known only to HVAC technicians, installer codes for thermostats, tricks to getting equipment running reliably, and how to make more money than co-workers once on the job. We will also cover compressor diagnostics, soldering-brazing-flaring-swedging of copper line-sets, proper use of a multi-meter, and the special handling requirements of refrigerants. By the completion of the course, students will understand what is to be expected from future schooling, the certification requirements included in formal training, as well as daily duties within the industry and the benefits to be derived as a professional HVAC technician.
