  • Develop job descriptions that provide opportunities for a wider pool of qualified candidates. 
  • Work towards attracting a broader applicant pool. 
  • Maintain an interview process involving a diverse committee that includes staff who will work closely with positions. 
  • Review hiring and onboarding practices. 

 

Empower Employees by Continuing to:

  • Develop customized training for supervisors and staff relating to cultural competency and the potential for unconscious bias.  
  • Actively develop and support talent internally. 
  • Reduce silos by creating platforms where staff can discuss, learn, and contribute to diversity and inclusion on campus.   
  • Listen by developing feedback tools into workplace programs and evaluations. 
  • Promote and strengthen the Diversity and Inclusion standing committee charged with the coordination of diversity efforts across campus.  

 

Establish Progress Measurements by Continuing to:

  • Develop benchmarks, track, and analyze initiatives.  
  • Create platforms for transparency in reporting data, tracking results, and accountability.  
  • Report success and ongoing challenges with leadership. 
  • Celebrate our successes and recognize our challenges.
