A-B Tech is a leader in supporting and advocating for inclusion-supported events and activities in our community.
How do we do this?
- Educate and provide experiences and trainings that promote a greater appreciation of diversity and inclusion in the community.
- Participate in community forums, coalitions and committees that support diversity and inclusion including the WNC Diversity Engagement Coalition (WNC DEC) and Martin Luther King Jr. Association Board and Celebration Committee.
- Encourage a culture of community involvement and servant leadership by providing community service leave to its employees.
- Support diversity and inclusion community event through partnerships and sponsorship.
What we have done:
- Maintain a fulltime staff position designated to ensuring A-B Tech stays focused on inclusion in its policies, procedures, outreach, and community engagement. (Associate Director of Human Resources & Special Assistant to the President for Inclusion).
- Provide free and open to the community educational talks to celebrate, educate and engage in powerful conversations, including Stand Against Racism, Women’s History Month, and Black History Month.
- Local media partnerships to support and uplift diversity in our community including WRES FM No Limits Radio Show, The Urban News, WCQS/BPR Waters & Harvey and Latino USA programs, La Voz newspaper, Hola Carolina
- Sponsor community events including Hola Carolina Festivals, Power of the Purse, MLK Prayer Breakfast, CoThink, and Minority Enterprise Development Week.
