This is the first step in the enrollment process. Before you get started, please review the important information about NC residency below.
At the direction of the NC General Assembly in 2013, the Residency Determination Service (RDS) provides a centralized, uniform process for determining residency. RDS is the authoritative source of residency determination for all educational entities in North Carolina.
Visit www.ncresidency.org and complete your residency application. You will be assigned a Residency Certification Number (RCN) which is unique to you and your residency status. Be sure to make note of your RCN because it is required on your college application.
If you have already been assigned a RCN previously, you will need to enter it on the application when prompted.

With your Residency Certification Number (RCN) in hand, you are ready to begin your college application.
