Most methods are sample-type specific, so it depends on the method. Botanical constituent tests are usually performed on dried plant material or tinctures. Craft beverage tests are specific to beer, but in some cases, we may also be able to accommodate sake, wine, cider, and spirits. See the Laboratory Services page for more information.
The lab is currently neither accredited nor registered with any certifying body. We are happy to work with clients individually to determine appropriate quality assurance measures.
We strive to provide results for previously developed methods within 10 business days of sample receipt. If the delivery of results is delayed by equipment downtime, supply shortages, holiday hours, large sample load, or other circumstances, we will keep you informed.
We have a very small lab staff, so we are not typically able to accommodate rush testing.
If you are near Asheville, please arrange sample submission with a BioNetwork at A-B Tech staff member. The lab is located on the second floor of the TCC building at the A-B Tech Enka - please see below for the street address.
USPS will not reliably deliver packages to our lab; please use FedEx or UPS and the shipping address below. Consult with the carrier on any regulatory or safety issues associated with shipping your sample. As with any sample submission, please contact the lab prior to sending samples, and don’t forget to include the sample submission form.

The required sample amount is different for each method. We will discuss the requirements for your sample when we meet to discuss your needs.
Yes, see the Laboratory Use & Equipment Rental page for more information. There are some caveats and other items worth mentioning:
- Client access to the laboratory is contingent upon qualifications and completion of lab safety training. Individuals with qualifying lab, manufacturing, or other technical experience will be able to act as rental clients.
- Client-performed testing does not fall under the BioNetwork quality assurance system. This means that no laboratory reports will be issued. The client is responsible for all quality assurance measures, such as duplicate or check sample analysis and secondary data review.
Use of analytical instrumentation usually requires some prior experience or training. We have SOPs for equipment, and we’re available to offer basic familiarization for proper use. Method training or more in-depth instrument training may be available, but the required materials and staff time will be billed.
