A-B Tech Aviation Instructor Recounts Saving Dozens From The Roof Of Unicoi County Hospital




In this news clip from WCYB News 5, Jeffrey Bush, a full-time aviation instructor at A-B Tech, shares his experience as part of a team that rescued dozens of people trapped on the roof of the Unicoi County Hospital in Erwin, Tennessee, after Hurricane Helene. Bush, who was a state trooper in Virginia for 25 years, flew a rescue helicopter that carried many people to safety. He still works part-time for the Virginia state police as a civilian pilot and was on duty during Hurricane Helene last year.

Abingdon, Va. (WCYB) — Both 1st Sgt. Jeffrey Bush and pilot Jacob Culp were part of the two Virginia State Police rescue crews that saved dozens from the roof of the Unicoi County Hospital as Helene's flood waters surrounded the building.
