A-B Tech utilizes a three-pronged advising model to maximize student access to well-informed advising.
Student Advisors provide the following services:
Academic Advising for:
- Pre-Selective and Limited program students:
- Discussion of career goals and selective or limited program choice
- Determination of placement for college-level math and English
- Introduction and explanation of program admission requirements
- Advising on course selection up to the point of application and acceptance to the program
- Facilitate program application during specified application periods
- Visiting and Unclassified students:
- Discussion of academic goals
- Determination of placement for college-level math and English
- Course selection to meet goals until the program of study is declared
- Immigrant, New American, and International students:
- Ensure compliance with all federal regulations for F1-Visa students throughout the duration of study
- Discussion of career goals and program choice
- Determination of placement for college-level math and English
- Ongoing course advising in conjunction with assigned program or faculty advisor
- Access to resources pertinent to students with non-citizen status
- Career and College Promise Students (CCP)
- Pathway and course advising for all dual-enrolled high school CCP students
Enrollment Support and Access to Resources for:
- Any student in need of assistance and unsure where to connect to resources
- Anyone wishing to discuss possible enrollment or in need of assistance with the enrollment process
Student Success Coaching:
- Proactive outreach to assigned cohorts of new and returning students over the first 8 weeks of the semester to provide information, resources, and assistance designed to promote each student’s success
Early Alert Response:
- Faculty identify students about whom they have academic or other concerns and refer them to Student Advising for outreach and assistance

Students are seen by virtual or phone appointment and on a walk-in basis
PAC Advisors are referred to as First Semester Experts (FSE) or Academic Advisors
Advise College Transfer Students, Associate of Arts and Science
- Discuss what Transfer Pathway they are interested in
- 4-Year Transfer University
Serve as First Semester Expert for Applied Science Programs
- Discuss career goals
- Ensure correct program placement
- Ensure RISE placement is on file/up to date
- Add embedded credentials
- Re-assign to Faculty Program Advisor after initial meeting
Teach ACA 122
- Each advisor teaches one section of the College Transfer Success course annually

Students are assigned a faculty advisor following their first semester of advising with an FSE in PAC or following their first semester after starting their Selective or Limited Program
