Queer the Way and Psychology students work together on Kindness Rocks project April 30th 2019 Queer the Way, a student organization at A-B Tech serving Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Intersex, Asexual students and their allies, has teamed up with students in Samantha Castelblanco’s Psychology courses to bring the Kindness Rocks Project to campus.
College and Career Fair Fills Conference Center April 30th 2019 The annual A-B Tech Find Your Future College and Career Fair held April 4 in the Mission Health/A-B Tech Conference Center drew a large crowd to campus. The event was followed by High School Visitation on the next day.

Infused in History: A Tea Exhibit April 26th 2019 Until September 28, come to the Smith-McDowell House and add tea to your tour. Each of the exhibit rooms will feature tea-related items and educational panels about the history, use and practice of taking tea.
Student Art Exhibition Starts May 3 April 25th 2019 The 2019 Student Art Exhibition will open with a reception May 3 at 5 p.m. in the Mission Health/A-B Tech Conference Center Gallery. The exhibition juror will be Suzanne Dittenber Assistant Professor of Art at UNC-Asheville. Awards will be presented at 5:30 p.m.
Lampkin Coordinates Apprenticeship Collaboration April 24th 2019 Tim Lampkin has been selected as a consultant to coordinate a regional apprenticeship program involving A-B Tech, Blue Ridge, Haywood, Isothermal and Southwestern community colleges.
Restored Sunnicrest Dedicated April 24th 2019 The newly restored historic Sunnicrest building was dedicated in a ceremony April 22. The exterior restoration was competed recently using funds from the Connect NC Bond Referendum approved in 2016. The restoration was conducted by architect David E. Gall and Danforth Construction.
Witsell Has First Novel Published April 24th 2019 Erica Witsell, ELA Instructor, has written her debut novel, “Give,” which will be published June 1. Witsell has a bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University and a master’s from UC Berkeley. The novel has already garnered praise from local, bestselling author Ron Rash.
Inmates to Entrepreneurs Program Starts April 24 April 19th 2019 The Small Business Center at A-B Tech has partnered with the Brian Hamilton Foundation to offer a four-week Inmates to Entrepreneurs Program. The program provides resources and mentorship to help people with a criminal background start, grow, and run low-capital service businesses.
A-B Tech Students Recognized for Exemplary Academic Achievements April 9th 2019 A-B Tech Community College honored outstanding students during its Academic Awards Ceremony April 9 in Ferguson Auditorium.
Employees Volunteer for Do the Write Thing April 3rd 2019 A-B Tech employees volunteered to help score students’ essays March 21 and 22 for the “Do the Write Thing” project, a collaboration between Asheville and Buncombe County Schools, and the Buncombe County Sheriff Office and Asheville Police Department.
