April 9th 2019 A-B Tech Community College honored outstanding students during its Academic Awards Ceremony April 9 in Ferguson Auditorium.
Employees Volunteer for Do the Write Thing
April 3rd 2019 A-B Tech employees volunteered to help score students’ essays March 21 and 22 for the “Do the Write Thing” project, a collaboration between Asheville and Buncombe County Schools, and the Buncombe County Sheriff Office and Asheville Police Department.
Navy Corpsmen Take Intense EMT Class
March 29th 2019 Seven active duty Navy Corpsmen from Naval Base Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, finished an EMT class after 26 straight days of training. EMS ConEd Instructor Bryan Brzycki along with a cadre of adjunct instructors developed the class in only a couple of weeks.
April RISE Spotlight
March 29th 2019 In addition to continue highlighting Locke Library, the spring Trailblazer RISE award semifinalists have been named. The winner will be announced at the Employee Spring Picnic on May 8.
Radio Museum Extends Hours
March 29th 2019 The Asheville Radio Museum located in Elm 315 will now be open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 1 to 3 p.m. Instructors are welcome to bring their classes for a tour. The museum is free and open to the public.
Women’s History Month at A-B Tech
March 29th 2019 As part of Women’s history month, local author Jennie Liu read from her novel, “Girls on the Line” March 13. The daughter of Chinese immigrants, Liu has been fascinated by the attitudes, social policies, and changes in China each time she visits.
Tillman Honored for College Contributions
March 29th 2019 A-B Tech dedicated the main dining room in the Magnolia Building of The Brumit Center for Culinary Arts and Hospitality to long-time Associate Dean Chef Sheila Tillman on March 27 during a reception with the American Culinary Federation (ACF).
Career Fairs in Madison
March 28th 2019 Employees of A-B Tech Madison and Student Services were on hand at the Madison High School career fair on March 13. Then next week on March 19, A-B Tech Madison hosted a Spring Career Fair with NCWorks Career Center - Madison.
Campus Events for April
March 27th 2019 Nature’s Notebook on Display Artwork created by students in Peter Loewer’s Natures Notebook II class will be on display through May 3 in the lower Locke Library. The class focuses on looking into natural work using pencils, pen and ink, and watercolor.
Welcome, New Employee
March 22nd 2019 David Robbins joins A-B Tech as the Purchasing Agent and Lab Manager in Culinary Arts. David has a Bachelor’s degree in Management from the University of North Carolina Asheville.
