Construction Career Day Shares Local Construction Career Opportunities
March 22nd 2019 Fletcher, N.C. – Construction Career Day will be Wednesday, March 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the WNC Agricultural Center’s McGough Arena. A-B Tech is one of the participating colleges in the free event that will connect more than 30 local employers offering construction career opportunities with job seekers.
Students Selected for NASA Onsite Experience
March 22nd 2019 Three A-B Tech students were selected to attend the NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars (NCAS) Onsite Experience at Kennedy Space Center.

March 22nd 2019 David Robbins joins A-B Tech as the Purchasing Agent and Lab Manager in Culinary Arts. David has a Bachelor’s degree in Management from the University of North Carolina at Asheville.
Third Power Up, Power On Event Features Women’s Empowerment
March 13th 2019 A-B Tech Community College’s Women in Technology Group held its third annual Power Up, Power On event on March 12 in the A-B Tech/Mission Health Conference Center. This annual women’s event features a program of workshops and networking opportunities.

March 13th 2019 Joanna Bolick, Chair of Developmental Studies, presented at the National Association for Developmental Ed (NADE) conference in Atlanta on March 8.
Kennedy Presents at GIS Conference
March 12th 2019 Computer Technologies Instructor Pete Kennedy attended the NC GIS conference in Raleigh this February, where he presented “Using GIS to Prioritize Trail Maintenance in Pisgah National Forest.”

A-B Tech Students Honored at NCCIA Conference
March 12th 2019 Four A-B Tech students were honored with scholarships at the NCCIA conference held on March 6-8 at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. Eight scholarships are given statewide for students majoring in an IT field.
Construction Students Build Bee Hive Bench
March 12th 2019 A-B Tech’s CST-111 (Construction I) class built a beehive bench for the Early College Bee Club. “We love supporting this sort of hands-on learning, whether it’s construction or beekeeping.
Detention Officers Receive Certification at A-B Tech Woodfin
March 11th 2019 The Emergency Services Academy celebrated the graduation of 18 students from the Detention Officer Certification Course (DOCC) on March 11 at A-B Tech Woodfin. The class had officers from Buncombe, Polk, Madison, Jackson, and Yancey counties.
