Early Childhood Graduate Lewis Selected to Speak at WCU Commencement
January 7, 2020 Mary Lewis, who graduated from the Early Childhood and Business Administration programs from A-B Tech, was featured in the McDowell News and was a commencement speaker at the December graduation at Western Carolina University, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood.
Hospitality Students Learn How to Recognize Signs of Trafficking
January 6, 2020 First-year Hospitality Management students in the Guest Services class had a one-hour presentation on Hospitality Trafficking Interception to learn how to recognize potential victims of human trafficking.

January 6, 2020 Jill Sparks, Executive Director of A-B Tech’s Small Business Center and Incubation Program, was given the Vanguard Award by Venture Asheville. In her position, Sparks has a direct impact on helping small business owners and entrepreneurs throughout Western NC.
Proposed Parking Changes at Birch and Haynes
January 6, 2020 The pictured map is of proposed changes in parking designations at Birch and Haynes. Due to the start of the barbering program, the plan is to change the smaller designated lot to the north of Birch (cosmetology wing) from employee parking (with yellow stripes) to barber client parking (with green stripes).
A-B Tech Designated as a SACA Pilot School
January 6, 2020 A-B Tech is one of a few schools in the nation approved for the Smart Automation Certification Alliance (SACA) pilot program. SACA is a non-profit organization that is developing standardized credentials for Industry 4.0 technology, automation, and smart manufacturing.
