Mars Hill A-B Tech Promise Signed

January 23rd 2020 Leaders of A-B Tech and Mars Hill University (MHU) signed a memorandum of understanding between the two institutions of higher education that guarantees admission to Mars Hill for all A-B Tech graduates who satisfy specific requirements.

Cooper Honored with MLK Service Award

January 21st 2020 Philip Cooper, A-B Tech’s UpSkill WNC Coordinator and Career Navigator, received the Adult Service Award from the Martin Luther King Jr. Association of Asheville and Buncombe County.

Literature and Arts Journal Accepting Submissions

January 20th 2020 A-B Tech’s The Rhapsodist Literature and Arts Journal is currently accepting submissions for the Spring 2020 issue! We welcome all genres of writing and any art form that can be captured in a digital image.

Early Childhood Graduate Lewis Selected to Speak at WCU Commencement

January 7th 2020 Mary Lewis, who graduated from the Early Childhood and Business Administration programs from A-B Tech, was featured in the McDowell News and was a commencement speaker at the December graduation at Western Carolina University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood.

Holiday Celebrations on Campus

January 6th 2020 A-B Tech had a few on-campus celebrations in December to commemorate the upcoming holidays including the annual employee holiday lunch, the 44th annual Children's Holiday party, and an International Holiday Open House.

Sparks Honored with Vanguard Award

January 6th 2020 Jill Sparks, Executive Director of A-B Tech’s Small Business Center and Incubation Program, was given the Vanguard Award by Venture Asheville. In her position, Sparks has a direct impact helping small business owners and entrepreneurs throughout Western NC.

Proposed Parking Changes at Birch and Haynes

A-B Tech Designated as a SACA Pilot School

January 6th 2020 A-B Tech is one of a few schools in the nation approved for the Smart Automation Certification Alliance (SACA) pilot program. SACA is a non-profit organization that is developing standardized credentials for Industry 4.0 technology, automation, and smart manufacturing.

January RISE

January 6th 2020 The Trailblazer RISE (Respect, Integrity, Support for Everyone) award was given during a breakfast in December. The nominees were Michael Harney, Damian Beavers, Carla Coombs, Emma Harper, and Daniel Mancuso, with Beavers selected as the overall winner. 

60th Anniversary: Let’s Celebrate

Art by Whitesides Featured in Conference Center Gallery

January 6th 2020 Artist Shirley Whitesides recently had an exhibit of her work in the A-B Tech/Mission Health Conference Center Gallery.  The exhibit titled “My Soul Looks Back, A Reflection of Art” included a reception and a fundraising event by Delta House to support youth and families in the Asheville communities.
