Defensive Driving

A-B Tech defensive driving courses are designed for those who have received a citation outside of Buncombe County. Defensive Driving classes are offered in cooperation with the Safety & Health Council of North Carolina. Each class has been developed for a specific need or age group. Whether you are a young driver wanting to improve your skills or have received a ticket or court order, we have a class for you.

A-B Tech offers three unique defensive driving courses. We are not responsible for determining eligibility for any course. If you are unsure of the class you need to take, you should refer to the office instructing you to take the course. If you have received a ticket or court order, you will be directed as to which class to take. A-B Tech cannot make that determination. If you are unsure, please contact the courthouse or your attorney. Registration and payment must be made no later than 24 hours before a class begins.

Attitudinal Driving Dynamics (ADD-8) - $110

This interactive course focuses on making choices about driving and can be taken to satisfy court or attorney-ordered eight-hour classes and requirements for states that mandate more than four hours in a defensive driving course. This class takes place from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with a one-hour break for lunch.

Alive at 25 (ages 16-24) - $80

The overall purpose of this course is to help young drivers choose safe driving practices, take responsibility for their behavior, and be aware of the typical driving hazards. This class takes place on Thursdays from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
