August 10th 2020 Reza Setayesh, an A-B Tech alum and former Culinary instructor, was declared the winner on “Beat Bobby Flay” which aired August 9 on the Food Network. His signature dish was Jian Bing, a Chinese savory crepe that is often a breakfast street food.

Advanced Manufacturing Center Renovated and Open for Classes
August 6th 2020 Identifying the need to meet employment and skills requirements in the ever-growing manufacturing sector, A-B Tech developed an Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC) in 2014, and $1.3 million was appropriated from the Connect NC Bond to fund renovations to A-B Tech’s Maple Building.

Medical Coding Certificate at A-B Tech Now Available Online
July 13th 2020 A-B Tech’s Medical Coding program is now offered 100 percent online or in a hybrid method of delivery. This short-term class lasts three semesters and prepares individuals for entry-level employment opportunities in the healthcare specialty of medical coding.
Education Program at A-B Tech Expands to Include K-12
July 13th 2020 A-B Tech Community College’s Early Childhood Education department has expanded its support of growing local educators. The department’s name has changed and the scope of its work has expanded to include not only early childhood education but also K-12 education teacher preparation in response to the growing need for qualified teachers for all ages in North Carolina.

May 28th 2020 The Ivy Building at A-B Tech, the last remaining building from St. Genevieve's and Gibbons Hall, has been chosen as a Griffin Award winner from the Preservation Society of Asheville and Buncombe County.
