A-B Tech Community College is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and welcoming learning environment where students can participate in campus life free from hazing, intimidation, or coercion.
In accordance with the Stop Campus Hazing Act and North Carolina General Statute §14-35, hazing is strictly prohibited on and off campus and is a violation of College Policy. The College will promptly review reports of hazing and take appropriate action under the Student Code of Conduct, or Employee Code of Ethical Conduct, or other applicable College policies.
What is Hazing?
Hazing is any intentional, knowing, or reckless act committed by one person or acting with others against another individual in connection with initiation into, affiliation with, or continued membership in a student organization that causes or creates a risk of physical or psychological harm. A person's willingness to participate does not excuse or justify hazing.
Examples of hazing include, but are not limited to:
- Physical abuse or assault
- Forced physical activity or exercise
- Sleep deprivation
- Exposure to unsafe conditions
- Forced consumption of food, alcohol, drugs, or other substances
- Humiliation, intimidation, or coercion
- Activities that interfere with academic responsibilities
- Conduct that violates College policy or the law
Report Hazing
Anyone may report suspected hazing. You do not need to know whether an incident meets the legal definition of hazing before making a report.

- Emergency: If someone is injured or in immediate danger, call 911 and contact A-B Tech Police
- Note: Anonymous reports are accepted; however, they may limit the College's ability to investigate
Campus Hazing Transparency Report
The Campus Hazing Transparency Report will identify any student organization found responsible for hazing violations and will include a summary of the violation, relevant dates, and final outcomes. The report will be updated at least twice a year.
