RISE at A-B Tech Through the Food Pantry

January 8th 2019 Throughout the year, students struggle through many obstacles. Unfortunately, those obstacles are not always academically related. Students on our campus deal with things like homelessness, domestic violence, substance misuse, and food insecurity.

Students Achieve NASA and NC Space Grant Honors

January 8th 2019 Students at A-B Tech have received NC Space Grant Scholarships, been accepted into the NASA L’SPACE Virtual Academy, and were invited to Wallops Flight Facility as a NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars.

Professors Emeriti Named

January 8th 2019 Retiring Instructors Russ Palmeri, Tom Sharar, and Chef John Hofland were each given the title of Professor Emeritus by the college’s Board of Trustees and honored at the annual employee holiday lunch. The program was started in 2017 to award instructors who have provided exemplary service.

Spherion Funds RAMP Scholarship at A-B Tech

November 28th 2018 Spherion Staffing & Recruiting of Asheville presented its Community Give Back Donation to A-B Tech's RAMP Scholarship, which supports students enrolled in the Engineering and Applied Technology programs.

Students Selected for NASA On-Site Experience

February 1st 2018 A-B Tech students Elizabeth Wilson, Ryan Cole and Tom Varner have been selected to travel to NASA’s John C. Stennis Space Center in February to participate in the NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars project (NCAS).

Haas Grant Funds Scholarships at A-B Tech

December 6th 2017 The Gene Haas Foundation has given A-B Tech Community College $17,500 for scholarships for students enrolled in the Computer-Integrated Machining Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology programs.

Culinary Classes Return to Craggy Correctional Facilities

Culinary Team Brings Home Bronze

August 9th 2017 A-B Tech’s student culinary team won bronze medals and was recognized as fourth in the nation during the American Culinary Federation conference in Orlando. This was the College’s 10th trip to the national stage.
