Comments:
The Early Childhood Education Associate in Applied Science and Certificate Programs fulfill employment requirements in the state of North Carolina exclusively. Students will not be credentialed to work in any other state.
North Carolina does not offer nor support any kind of certificate or licensure for associate degree-level graduates. The AAS and AS/AA degrees in the Education Department on their own lead to no credential recognized by any professional licensing organization or entity. This occurs at the bachelor’s level only under the supervision of an NCATE-accredited program after students complete 16 weeks of student teaching, and the edTPA performance-based, subject-specific assessment that is employed by most if not all UNC System schools. The courses and degrees offered at A-B Tech are a foundational step towards transfer but in and of themselves do not lead to a license or certification that would be subject to reciprocity with other states.
