


A-B Tech’s Ownbey Named Young Surveyor of the Year
March 3rd 2017 A-B Tech Geomatics Technology instructor, Jared R. Ownbey, was named “2016 Young Surveyor of the Year” at the North Carolina Society of Surveyors’ (NCSS) 53rd Annual Conference and Trade Show on February 17 at the Pinehurst Resort.
A-B Tech STEM Scholars Awarded NC Space Grant
March 3rd 2017 Nick Long and Phillip Whiting, students at A-B Tech, have been each awarded a $2,500 scholarship from the North Carolina Space Grant, a member in a national network of university-based consortia.

Employee Art Show Opens
March 3rd 2017 The Employee Art Show is open on the lower level of the Locke Library. An opening reception was held on March 1. Employees had an opportunity to submit two pieces of their work to display. The show will run through April 28. Go by and check it out the hidden talken from the college.
Asheville’s Jewish Women Talk at A-B Tech
February 16th 2017 Sharon Fahrer, a local historian, will present “Asheville’s Jewish Women” in honor of Women’s History Month at 3 p.m., Wednesday, March 15 in A-B Tech Community College’s Ferguson Auditorium. The program is free and open to the public.
Adamson Named Dean of Arts and Sciences at A-B Tech
February 6th 2017 Kenet Adamson has been named Dean of Arts and Sciences at A-B Tech Community College. He previously served as the dean, as coordinator of the Program Advising Center, chair of the English and communications department and an English and humanities instructor for the College.
A-B Tech Student Captured in Act of Kindness
January 31st 2017 Student Michael Belanger was featured on the news on WLOS 13 after his act of kindness was caught on a cell phone camera. Belanger is an Ingles employee who stopped to help a man into the store by taking him by the hand.
Second annual Pi-K Walk/Run on March 14
January 31st 2017 The Health Sciences and Mathematics Department is excited to announce the second annual Pi-K Walk/Run. This event is free and we will have pie and raffle off prizes at the end of the Race. The race will start at 2 p.m. on 3/14 on campus.
