Menger Sponge Completed at Level 3
May 31, 2017 A-B Tech's Math Department has completed its campus-wide project of creating a level 3 Menger Sponge, which is an object with infinite surface area, but no volume.
A-B Tech Grad Lance Selected for NC State Goodnight Scholars Program
May 25, 2017 Recent A-B Tech graduate Donavan Lance was selected as one of 10 recipients of the Goodnight Scholars Program at NC State University. The cohort represents seven North Carolina community colleges and six NC State majors.
Simmons and Caldwell Receive Honorary Degrees at A-B Tech Commencement
May 24, 2017 More than 1,000 degrees and diplomas were awarded during the A-B Tech Commencement ceremonies on May 13 in the U.S. Cellular Center, including two honorary degrees for an Asheville civil rights leader and a long-time college employee.
Construction Students Work to Improve A-B Trek
May 23, 2017 Students in Heath Moody’s Construction I class worked on the A-B Trek trail kiosk and food planter. The trail itself is a collaboration across many different curricula and with several different employees on campus.
Health and Fitness Science Students Have 100 Percent Pass Rate
May 17, 2017 A-B Tech Community College students who graduated on May 13 from the first Health & Fitness Science program had a 100 percent pass rate for their American Council on Exercise (ACE) Personal Training certification exam. They are now Certified Personal Trainers.
Scholarships Awarded at NCCIA Conference
May 3, 2017 A-B Tech students received merit scholarships through the North Carolina Computer Instruction Association during its annual conference on March 7-9 at Craven Community College. The NCCIA was established in 1994 to meet the needs of training and sharing information related to computer technology.
Plant Sale a Great Success
May 3, 2017 The Biology Department’s Annual Plant Sale had its most successful fundraiser so far. “We had a bumper turnout, and when the dust cleared, we raised $8,037. This includes $5,037 in plant sales plus a $3,000 matching donation,” said Instructor Joe Allawos.
Welcome, New Employees
May 3, 2017 Ronnetta Copeland, A-B Tech’s newest Human Resources Assistant, has a Master’s degree, Sports Management from Brooklyn College. She has seven years of experience as an HR manager.
Taking Care of A-B Tech Day
May 3, 2017 Taking Care of A-B Tech Day, sponsored by the Staff Association, finished out the College’s Earth Week celebration. There were four different areas where employees could volunteer to help beautify the campus.
